Today as Indigo James and I reconnected after 5 days apart there was much discussion about what he wanted to do in the coming days...and beyond. First, he wants to go to Australia with his Papa, and Mama. He had hoped that I would see his K-1 teacher while I was in Melbourne. Alas, I did not. His other plans include: Making a new book about crocodiles. We've made two books together so far. He uses stickers and drawings to illustrate the stories and dictates the written parts to me. A great
pre-reading activity Jodi remembered from her elementary ed. days in Honduras. I brought the boy a small plastic crocodile as a gift and told him a story of crocodiles I heard from a colleague who lives in Darwin, AU...apparently anywhere you swim around the Darwin area you are guaranteed to be dinner for a crocodile. Yikes! Indy was very curious about this.
Other plans of Indy...he wants me to learn to drive a scooper. A scooper being a large Catepillar front end loader. He will also learn to drive one when he's a grown up. And we will then drive scoopers together.
He is also possessed with the idea of building a house with two floors. Tonight after stories he looked me in the eye as we were discussing building house and he said, "I will be good at making a house."
We indulged ourselves watching a little of Indigo's favorite movie tonight. Overwhelmed by his presence I asked for a kiss. He obliged. A moment later he looked at me earnestly and asked, "Is it OK if I wipe it (the kiss) off?"
