Art-Technology-Calligraphy Room

This is my domain at Katoh Gakuen Gyoshu High School/Middle School. I share the room Juri-sensai who teaches calligraphy part-time. She speaks as much English as I do Japanese, so our interactions are limited. The space seriously lacked storage space and containers to organize materials and equipment. Luckily at my request the school has sprung for new shelving and many new plastic containers...in turn the space is much more organized and the students can readily access the resources we have. The artwork is from my very genki (lively & full of life) 9th grade art class. They've studied the art of Keith Haring and the impact his work made on the communities it was a part of. After that they researched a variety of issues that impact their lives and community, and are working in teams to create a large(r) scale public artwork that will hang in the halls of the school.

It is great to see photos (complete with artwork) of your classroom. What are the girls in the corner working on? It appears that you have done some important organizing as well as stiumlating creative expression!
