Who took care of the first baby?

Out of the clear blue Indigo posed the question, "When there was the first baby, and there was no one else, who could feed and take care of the baby?"

I had to ask, "what made you think of asking that question?" Indy replied, "I want to figure that out."

What a great question. My head hurts thinking about how to answer that one.
