This past week I defused a conflict in 6th grade art that began with this question from Juan Ignacio, "Oscar, would you cry if you got shot with an AK-47?". I found Oscar in tears, on the edge of exploding. The conflict ended with me very delicately saying to Oscar and Juan Ignacio something like, "I think we are taking this a little too seriously, and, I know I would cry if I got shot by an AK-47 and was still alive". The boys shook hands, apologized and that was that.
