Boundry Waters 2009

TJ & Trish. Friends made in Tegucigalpa back in 2006. Now residents of Guadalajara. Our trip to the BWCA was hatched by TJ at least two years ago.

Sunset on Long Island lake.

This was the night the wind died and the mosquitos attacked with unbelievable fortitude.

We all agreed that renting kevlar canoes would be worth the extra $...25 fewer pounds on the shoulders is worth the money. We managed to single portage longer portages, and back tracked on shorter portages doing doubles. Jodi busted out a few portages with our 65 pound canoes as seen here.

Post paddle/portage yoga on the rock with our yogis TJ & Trish.

Lake Kiskadinna in the background. We covered 5 portages over 6 lakes this day. TJ caught a bass on the second to last lake. I fileted it to the best of my ability and we ate it up. Tasty!

My fishing skills stunk. But I managed to hook two hearty Northerns.

Post trip group shot. The entire trip was fantastic. Even the cursed mosquitos couldn't ruin it. The element that made it so sucessful were our wonderful friends. We laughed, cursed bugs, froze swimming, ate heartily and truly enjoyed our time together in the pristine BW wilderness.
