Cleaning at school, water out the window
Each day of the week at school we have a 15 minute cleaning period. There are no janitors at school. Well, I guess there are. The students and faculty. I have 4 very energetic 13 old boys who arrive daily to clean the art room. They are non-immersion students so their collective Enlgish vocabulary consists of "hello", pronounced herro, "teacher", and "finished". I was organizing a cabinet with my back turned to my cleaners when I heard laughter. The laughter grew and grew until I turned around to find that the foursome had connected the hose beneath my sink and were spraying it out the window at anyone within reach, a story below. It was really funny. Because of the language barrier, I communicated my disapproval with the index finger across the throat motion, and said "no" in English. They got the message.

This does bring back memories of teaching Junior High School; Senior high kids would never do such a thing!. Your cross cultural response was clear. I can imagine that there were some 13 year old girls on the receiving end of the "water out the window!"
