Mt Fuji today
The consistently rainy wet weather has broke today. It is sunny for the first time in a week. At 6pm today I am meeting Trent, Monica, Romeo, Hamish, Hannah and Evan at Ooka station here in Numazu. We'll ride a local train to Gotemba station, about 30 minutes away. From there we will hop a bus and 60 minutes later arrive at Subashiri 5th Station on Mt. Fuji. The 5th station is at an elevation of 200o meters, and half way up the volcano. We'll start our climb around 9:00pm and pace ourselves to arrive at the summit for sunrise at 4:30am. The altitude at the summit is 3, 776 meters. I feel good. Energy is there. The planning is done. Backpack is loaded. I'm very much looking forward to an incredible hike, and a memorable life experience. Pictures to come after the trip.
